Praise God, we are finally starting to make a little head way with our new language. Luckily for me Tagalog shares many common words to Spanish. Erin though has had the luxury of emersion, which I have not had until now. But praise God, we can now put together a few simple sentences and are constantly learning new vocabulary. So far some of the hardest words we have come across are: mapagpakumbaba which means humble or the equally difficult: panampalataya which means faith. Some times we think our teacher is just making them up. Also, we are continuing to use our Rosetta Stone computer program. Please pray that we would continue to be diligent, as our studies will only get harder. We meet three times per week for two hours per session. Though emersion is the best way to learn a language, English is so pervasive here that few people want to speak Tagalog. It is in many ways a dieing language, especially in Manila. However, the Lord has called us to the province where few people speak English and Tagalog will be our mainstay. Thank you for all of your prayers and support. We are praying for you as well, and would like to thank you for allowing us the privilege to serve God full time here in the Philippines.
Maraming Salamat, thank you very much…
